Our deepest fear is not that we are inadaquate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyound measure. It is our light, not our darkness that frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You're a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates other."
Marianne Williamson
So true!
It isn't fear of failure that has held me back all these years as a musician and composer, it's been fear of success!
Now I'm finally ready - building a studio - composing and producing LOTS of music - and getting it OUT THERE so that people can hear it, people who may need music, such as film producers, TV, etc.
Thanks for sharing that quote!
John

Great quote! Thanks for sharing!
It is indeed a wonderful quote; we should always have something on quotes on page one everyday. I love Marianne Williamson, and I would also love it if someone could verify the exact origin of this quote. She includes this quote in one of her books; though I don't think it's hers, to the extent that she gives Nelson Mandela credit for its being in one of his speeches between when he was released from 30 years in prison and becoming the president of his country. When the quote is used elsewhere since that book, her name is often attached to it. She is a powerful force and wonderful human in her own right, having much to say at the root of where we are now. Given that Mr. Mandela is around 90 now, his legacy should be maintained as accurately as possible, coupled in addition with the strengths of Marianne's work, so that we may all do more from the paths they have each carved for us.
Brillant!! I love her...I went to her lectures a couple of times...many years ago...after her first book Return To Love.....since then I bought every book she wrote......and this quote.....taught me how to Shine...and More!
Thank you Pleasure.......You are Wonderful!:) and all of the above!!!
Truly, Catherine
More please!!!
Don't know who said it but it came from the free course by Bill Harris:
"Happiness is a Choice. We are totally fine. We are living like kings and queens compared to people in third world countries or people in past history other people would be totally envious of. Don't look at outside reality to make you happy and want to change things on the outside."
If there were in the world today any large number of people who desired their own happiness more than they desired the unhappiness of others, we could have paradise in a few years. ~ Bertrand Russell

I performed for six presidents. I met nine. One of my most

Ok this is really creepy - I just finished watching a movie (Come Early Morning) where Ashly Judd goes to church, and the preacher was saying the exact same Quote and then this is the first post I read.

Hi:
That quote is from Nelson Mandela's inaugeration speech. I've had it posted up at work ever since I saw it on one of my professor's office door. It is one of my favorite inspirational quotes.

i like many quotes but like so many they all come from one person, confucius.
To be able under all circumstances to practice five things constitutes perfect virtue; these five things are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness.
Confucius Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do.

The last one has always been my favorite. If anyone wants any other good quotes, i found this page,

it also has many other reference points for other authors and people to look at. I like quotes and metaphors myself because unlike me they are straight to the point! LOL!
